Thousands of Record Shops have been and gone over the decades with only a few of the original owners or buildings still surviving. Along side old photos or past customers memories the characterful paper bags with the shops individual designs are the last connection to a past era..
The Image on the left is a Record Shop from the Blackpool area
called the Record Box which was on ST. Johns Street.
The Artwork for these bags were often quirky and basic in design but over time have developed a charm which reflects the period they were used. Some used standard printing designs and then added their own details, this would save time and were probably cheaper to manufacture.
I have compiled a visual library of the bags I accumulated whilst buying and selling records over the years and would be interested to know any additional information regarding the shops which are shown above.
